202m Centerfold is the latest yacht design of the Nuvolari Lenard. For Centerfold Nuvolari Lenard has teamed up with photographer and storyteller Jarmo Pohjaniemi to change the way the world sees superyachts. As a team they have enhanced the way this design is presented, bringing a level of artistry that is completely new to yachting. “For our collaboration with Jarmo on Centerfold, we inverted that creative process. Rather than waiting for him to capture the physical yacht with his lens, we invited him to work with us from the early stages of design, to exclusively manage the yacht’s beauty from his perspective as a world-class photographer,” says Dan Lenard. “This is something that has never been seen before in the superyacht world. We are not creating a design simply as a means to an end of that yacht being built; we are putting the maximum creativity into the design itself. It blurs the lines between yacht design and art, so that the enjoyment can be experienced by anyone who sees the images, not just the person who ultimately owns the yacht. You could say we are democratizing the enjoyment of superyachts through this process,” continues the designer. To be built in high tensile steel and aluminium, Centerfold would have a displacement of 16,800GT and make use of the latest technology to deliver ecologically-sensitive low emissions when the surroundings call for them, or impressive speeds should the need arise.Beyond the yacht’s stunning features she’s not only become the one of the largest yachts ever built, Centerfold has been designed to operate along a full spectrum of propulsion profiles. Owners will be able to modify the yacht’s operational modes to suit their surroundings and needs. The zero-emission, full-electric stealth mode is perfectly suited to cruising grounds with higher environmental sensitivity and stringent emissions regulations. Alternatively, the high-speed conventional propulsion mode delivers speeds of over 35 knots, driven by powerful 100,000hp engines. Pohjaniemi, the internationally renowned photographer who is best known for his work in the fashion and commercial arenas, has been drawn to the allure of the ocean and yachts for much of his career. “When I look at the ocean, I feel a power that draws me towards the horizon, and I have always sensed there was more beyond the shoreline that was calling my name. This oceanic fantasy became a reality when Dan Lenard invited me to collaborate in the development process of his newest project, Centerfold. Here are the three exceptional superyacht concepts with impressive gardens on board. Alice Lürssen98mAn innovative, climate-neutral yacht model called Alice, was developed by Lürssen. The climate-neutral yacht concept of tomorrow’s wonderland is driven by ecological responsibility. An emission-free fuel cell generates electrical energy based on hydrogen reformed from green methanol. The fuel cell replaces the conventional diesel generators on board. For higher speed and energy demands, an additional methanol engine is added.Green parks and ponds, that can be found on board, transform the yacht’s deck into a natural paradise, which when combined with the living walls in the interior, create a unique ecosystem on board. VY.013deluxe110mThe superyacht concept VY.01 was presented by design studio 3deluxe at the Monaco Yacht Show 2021. The zero-carbon superyacht features a seawater desalination system, powered by solar panels, for the watering of the greenhouse. The yacht has its own green and vegetable gardens to grow food on board. The interior of the 110m yacht also sets new standards and corresponds to the visionary, nature-oriented philosophy of the project: a light-suffused, loft-Iike space forms a spacious room continuum made up of a greenhouse. Lounge living space, kitchen, bar and vegetable garden. Luxury is rewritten entirely, with natural surroundings replacing acrylic glass and brass. Hareide Design 108mThis hybrid mega yacht concept was presented by Norwegian studio Hareide Design in 2016. The platform was created to experience the beauty of nature and the changing elements. The 108m vessel features a tranquil garden surrounding a 20m pool at the stern. 300 sq. m of high efficiency solar panels charging banks of lithium-ion batteries provides the ship with sustainable energy and enough power for slow cruising along quiet shorelines. The list of this year’s edition to the global list is quite impressive not only by size and exterior, but also by technology, such as hybrid-propulsion systems. Here is a list of new superyachts that have been launched in 2021.SolarisLloyd Werft140mThe giant Solaris is the eighth addition in Roman Abramovich’s fleet. The superyacht hit the water for the first time on Sunday 28 February. The 140m yacht has eight decks, as well as a helicopter pad and a spacious beach club aft. Solaris can accommodate up to thirty-six passengers and a crew of sixty. The impressive accent of Solaris’ exterior is the 2000 sq. m of glass, the largest glass panes to ever be built into a yacht.AhpoLürssen115m The 115m Ahpo (previously known as project Enzo) was launched by Lürssen in June. In September this bespoke yacht started her sea trials. Her exterior and interior design was made by Nuvolari Lenard. Moran Yacht & Ship managed and supervised the project. Ahpo is equipped with state-of-the art technology and engineering systems – a heat recovery system in the generators heats the water for the pool, leading to reduced electrical power and emissions, while dynamic positioning enables electronic anchoring in sensitive and remote areas, protecting the seabed and allowing for safe mooring regardless of water depth. She features an 80 sq. m gym and an additional wellness center.Project Y719Oceanco117mProject Y719 became the largest yacht under construction in the Netherlands. The vessel has five decks, steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Her interior was penned by Sinot Yacht Design and the exterior design is the work of Espen Oeino. She can accommodate up to 14 guests on board.BlissFeadship95m The 95m Bliss was launched in May 2021. Her outstanding exterior was made by Jan Schaffers of Studio De Voogt. Advanced security and life-safety systems have been discretely incorporated and De Voogt Naval Architects. The yacht has a clean and highly symmetrical design with her tenders and a large fleet of toys neatly concealed so as not to intrude upon her meticulously chosen lines. The interior was penned by Rémi Tessier. She has nine luxurious guest cabins, large lounges, and an extensive gym and wellness area. The yacht has a hybrid propulsion system. Bliss has a top speed of 17 knots.VivaFeadship94mThe eco-friendly 94m pure custom yacht Viva (previously known as Project 817) was launched by Feadship in February. Her exterior was made by Azure and Feadship's Studio De Voogt and the interior is the work of Peter Marino Architects. Her advanced hybrid propulsion system allows the yacht to cruise on diesel-electric power at 12 knots. In diesel mode she’s able to reach a top speed of 20 knots.Credits: Feadship, Lürssen, Oceanco

The 23.56m Project Capella is the custom explorer yacht. Under construction for experienced yacht owners, Project Capella sports a Grade A round bilge, full-displacement steel hull topped with an aluminium superstructure. Her naval architecture is a collaboration between the Dutch duo Ginton Naval Architects and Diana Yacht Design. She has been constructed entirely in-house by Van der Valk in order to fit the client’s specific requirements.Project Capella will have her home port based on the Balearic Islands, but her owners intend to cruise throughout the entire Mediterranean accompanied by family and friends for the first leg of their post-delivery adventures. But she is capable of going to the remote or challenging cruising grounds.“Project Capella is completely prepared for both warmer and colder climates, thanks to her cleverly designed windows, insulation and underfloor heating. She could go to places such as the Norwegian fjords without any issues,” says Bram Kooltjes, Van der Valk’s General Manager. Her exterior and interior were penned by Guido de Groot Design. “We used a lot of light materials on board, so that it felt airy and fresh. But we also included some darker accents, including walnut, integrating some wooden strips into the flat panels of the walls. The bookshelves and niches are designed to make the boat feel more ‘home like’, and these can be used to store works of art. All in all, we were looking to create a rustic, homely atmosphere that isn’t too busy or overwhelming,” explains the designer. Project Capella is slated for launch in spring 2023.Van der Valk is a family-run company building comfortable, innovative and efficient (semi) custom motoryachts from 18m to 45m. Because of the spread of the omicron virus variant North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) banned the holding of large events with spectators in January which also affects boot Düsseldorf. The 2021 year show also has been cancelled. NRW Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann explains: "We have to continue to be very careful at the moment. The omicron variant is spreading in a dynamic we don't yet know. But we have to act today. That is why we had already banned large football matches and sporting events with spectators in the current Covid Protection Ordinance. It is only logical that no large public fairs with many visitors from different regions and countries from all over the world take place in January either."Düsseldorf's Lord Mayor, Dr Stephan Keller, also supports the state's decision: "Of course we had hoped that the pandemic situation in January would allow the boot to be held under strict hygiene conditions. But in the end, it is only consistent to do without large public fairs such as boot in order to contain the spread of the omicron variant. Even before the country's ban, I agreed with the management of Messe Düsseldorf not to take an unjustifiable risk and to cancel boot if necessary."From the trade fair side, there is also complete understanding for the decision of the politicians in view of the current pandemic situation and the challenges in the coming weeks."The pandemic must be overcome as quickly as possible so that the trade fair industry can once again work with planning security for exhibitors and visitors. It is therefore with a heavy heart that we have to say goodbye to holding boot in January 2022. However, the decision of the state government is also in line with the wishes of many exhibitors who are very worried about participating in boot during the omicron wave. I ask all those involved for their understanding and support so that we can get back to work together in full force in 2023. The heartfelt thanks of the entire boot Düsseldorf team go to all exhibitors, associations and partners who have stood by our side to date.
